Augusta Precious Metals Reviews

If you are thinking about investing in precious metals, you are already in a great position to boost your financial future. Whether you are investing in gold and silver IRAs or you want to purchase precious metals for storing at home, there are many companies out there that offer these products and services.

One of these that stands out from the crowd is Augusta Precious Metals.

I’ve been working in this industry for many years, and Augusta Precious Metals is always one of the companies that I recommend to those who ask me about a gold IRA company. Augusta Precious Metals offers gold and silver IRAs, gold and silver coins, gold and silver bars, and other gold and silver products.

Though I highly recommend Augusta Precious Metals, I’ve been in this industry long enough to know that every gold IRA company I recommend isn’t right for every investor. This is why I also believe that you should do some research on your own and read other reviews…but first, start with this one.

Augusta Precious Metals was founded in 2012, and it focuses on one service – gold and silver investments.

This focus allows the Augusta Precious Metals team to truly become experts in the gold IRA industry. The company offers the following:

  • Gold IRAs
  • Silver IRAs
  • Bullion coins and bars
  • Premium gold and silver for collectors
  • IRA-eligible coins

Why Augusta Precious Metals is One of the Best Gold IRA Companies

If you are considering precious metals investing, Augusta Precious Metals should be on your list. Here’s why:

A Focus on Education

Augusta has an educational approach to investing, and that’s apparent as soon as you begin to work with them for a physical gold IRA or to buy precious metals. The customer service team takes time to get to know you and your retirement goals, and then they will guide you to the best options to meet those goals.

I’ve worked with the company in the past, and I can tell you from personal experience that they do not push any products, and they fully explained the pros and cons to everything I asked about. Other gold IRA companies don’t often do this. Though these customer service people are, indeed, salesmen, every time I call them I feel like I’m working with a financial advisor – not a salesperson trying to take advantage of me with high-pressure sales tactics.

The company also offers a number of educational resources including free resources and guides that explain the precious metals IRA process and what you need to know about diversifying your retirement savings.

Never Ending Account Support

As a precious metals company, Augusta has many traits that other companies don’t have. One of these is the fact that they focus more on the relationship they build with you than they do on making a sale.

When you start working with Augusta Precious Metals you get a personal customer success agent, lifetime access to the educational resources, step-by-step assistance when setting up your IRA, and help adding precious metals to your new IRA account.

Simplicity at the Forefront

I know what every IRA company has tips and tricks to make the process easier for clients, but Augusta is one of the best. They have created a streamlined way to do everything including opening your account, rolling over retirement funds, and helping you buy gold and silver. This can make an amazing difference in your experience.

Invest With Augusta Precious Metals – Step-by-Step

To really show you how easy it is to invest with Augusta Precious Metals, I want to share the simple process they have:

Step #1 – Open an Account

The first step is to contact Augusta Precious Metals and open your account. The customer service team will help you fill out the application and open a self-directed IRA. You need this account, which will hold physical gold or other precious metals, and it must have money in it before you can purchase your metals.

Step #2 – Transfer or Roll Over into the New IRA

Wen your IRA is opened, the next step is to put funds into the account. This is done either by a rollover or transfer from an existing retirement account. Eligible accounts include 401(k)s, 403(b)s, TSPs, or another IRA. Augusta takes care of all the paperwork for you and makes sure that everything is compliant with IRS rules. You can also fund your account with cash.

Step #3 – Pick and Store Your Metals

Now that the account is funded, you can choose from any of the IRA-eligible gold and silver products that Augusta Precious Metals offers. From Canadian Gold Maple Leafs to American Silver Eagles, Augusta’s experts will ensure that you are choosing IRA-approved physical metals for your retirement portfolio. They will allow you to be in control, though they will offer advice if you need it. Many people don’t know how precious metals work, so this is a great perk for those new to this type of investment.

At this point, your metals will be shipped to an IRS-approved depository. Augusta covers shipping and insurance costs, so you don’t have to worry about that, either. One top of this, Augusta partners with some of the most well known and safe depositories, including Delaware Depository. If you buy premium coins for investments and not an IRA, they will also ship the coins to your home.

Augusta Precious Metals Complaints

Though the vast majority of reviews and ratings for Augusta Precious Metals are overwhelmingly positive, there are a few complaints.

One of the most common complaints that I saw was about the minimum investment required to invest with Augusta Precious Metals. It’s $50,000. I know that seems like a lot, but we are talking about a retirement account here, and many investors will certainly have that if they have been saving for several years. If you don’t have that, however, there are plenty of amazing companies that offer gold IRAs with much smaller minimums.

Augusta Precious Metals Fee Structure

I really appreciate the transparent pricing that Augusta maintains, and there are never any hidden fees. All gold IRA companies have fees, and many have hidden costs, but the fees you will pay for Augusta Precious Metals are clear and easy to understand.

There is a one-time $50 setup fee for Augusta, and an annual storage fee of $100 – $150, depending on the type of storage you choose. In addition, Augusta offers free shipping and insurance for its customers, and it offers the highest buyback guarantee I have found. Also, keep in mind that there is a small margin that is added to the precious metals they offer. So, prices will be a bit over spot price. Also, don’t forget that there is a $50,000 minimum investment.

Pros and Cons of Augusta Precious Metals

Here are some of the main pros and cons of working with the Augusta team:

Pros

  • Investor education is a priority over sales – no pressure sales tactics
  • Use rollovers, transfers, or cash purchases to pay for precious metals
  • Trusted partners like Delaware Depository and Equity Trust Company
  • High customer satisfaction throughout the investment process
  • Personalized service for prospective clients and lifetime account support for actual clients

Cons

  • A minimum investment of $50,000 is required to open an IRA account

My Final Thoughts About Augusta Precious Metals

Over the years I have worked with many precious metals companies, and Augusta is definitely one of my favorites. This company has built a reputation that should make potential investors feel at ease, and with a focus on customer education and lifetime support, retirement savers can feel confident when choosing Augusta.

Keep in mind that Augusta Precious Metals is not the only company I recommend when it comes to gold IRAs. There are plenty of others. My best advice is to take a look at the different companies out there, read reviews on sites like this one, and then take a look at consumer review sites like the Better Business Bureau. Another thing you might want to consider doing is see how Augusta stacks against other companies in regard to things like storage costs, management fees, and whether or not they offer competitive prices.

I am a fan of Augusta, but it won’t be for everyone. Check out my other reviews before you settle on one gold IRA company over another.
